Anne dabbled in writing and painting. She spent a number of years in aretirement home in Blacksburg, VA and in August of 1998 she changed overto Meadowbrook Nursing Home in Shawsville VA. Her brother Frank Shaferand his wife Doris both died in the Meadowbrook Nursing Home. George worked a number of jobs. His job when he married was working forthe railroad. He was also a farmer, worked in a broom factory, and workedin a merchandise store. It has been told that he attened VPI collegesupposedly the first year it opened (it was probably the AgriculturalCollege.) He was one of thirty-seven students to attend VPI that year.They were married on Thanksgiving by Rev. William Cline at St. Mark'sEvangelical Lutheran Church in Springwood, Virginia. George owned a hotelin Graham, Virginia and took Mollie there as a bride. Their oldest sonwas born in Graham. Later George took over his father's farm on theoutskirts of Blacksburg, Virginia. Nell and Anne were born on the farm.After they were born, George and Mollie moved to Blacksburg and started abroom factory.
